The CHSPrac course is pitched at Level 5 on the NQF and uses content from SAQA Unit Standard 77063 - National Certificate: Construction Health and Safety as well as the SACPCMP guidelines for CHS Officers as a guide.
The CHSPrac course is a blended theory and practical based offering at our 15 seater Val de Grace, Pretoria venue, covering the basic concepts of the Construction Regulations 2014, construction site establishment, the clients specifications, HIRAC, hazardous construction equipment, materials, workplaces and chemicals, the construction health and safety plan within the project plan, project CHS roles and responsibilities and the project health and safety file.
The course will be easier to complete if the attending learner has a good pass in English and Math Literacy at Grade 12 (NQF4) level as well as some exposure to occupational health and safety principles and practices. There is no need for previous construction practical experience before attending, but experience will greatly assist learner progress.
Learning material is provided on a 10" tablet which is included in the course fee. Open book, limited time, theory assessments are done within weeks after the course through the SHEQ Virtual Academy portal. Practical assessment is in the form of a developed construction health and safety plan for a given scenario. Certificates are issued within one week after a successful theory assessment.
